Sustainability & Social Impact Project in the US Territories

In 2022, BCAGlobal was awarded a grant by the NIH and the Network of the National Library of Medicine to develop and implement a mindful eating program in the US Virgin Islands. We collaborated with the University of the Virgin Islands and Sejah Farms, a sustainable teaching farm, to develop community training materials and workshops to improve local agricultural models, health and nutritional literacy. The course covered a variety of topics, including waste reduction, organic agriculture, soil health, and nutrition, and graduated over 25 students.

Sustainable Agriculture program in Puerto Rico

In 2024, BCAGlobal was selected for the USDA Beginning Farmers and Ranchers grant to implement a three-year sustainable agriculture program in Puerto Rico, currently underway. In partnership with the University of Puerto Rico and AgroInnova, we are spearheading a transformational effort to regenerate Puerto Rico’s food system by placing local farmers at the center of agricultural innovation. This project aims to build a replicable model of regenerative farming that restores soil health, diverts food and organic waste, improves crop nutrient density, and strengthens food sovereignty across the island, advancing ecological justice and long-term resilience in farming communities.
