Programs
Over the past 20 years, BCAGlobal has implemented more than 100 grassroots initiatives across urban and rural communities in the U.S. and its territories. These initiatives have included sustainable agriculture training, food literacy education, equipment support for food pantries, and culinary job training for youth. In 2016, we launched a workforce development initiative with NYC Job Corps that brought Bronx youth to McEnroe Organic Farm to study agriculture, sustainability, and mindful cooking. Seventy percent of participants went on to pursue culinary careers. In 2022, we received a grant from the NIH and the Network of the National Library of Medicine to deliver a mindful eating and agriculture program in the U.S. Virgin Islands, graduating 25 students and strengthening local food systems and literacy. Most recently, we were awarded a USDA Beginning Farmers and Ranchers grant to design and implement a three-year sustainable agriculture and food waste reduction program in Puerto Rico, currently underway. Through a blend of published curricula, community events, cooking demonstrations, and immersive education, our programs have reached more than 5,000 individuals, engaging approximately 200 people annually.
